LEE 2-Cavity Bullet Mold for .45/70 Caliber Reloading

Precision-engineered .457 diameter, 500-grain flat-nose (FN) bullet mold designed for Gas-Chek bullets, optimized specifically for .45/70 Government cartridges.

Compatible with .458 Winchester Magnum and other similar high-performance cartridges.

Ballistic Coefficient: 0.278, providing excellent external ballistics for medium to long-range shooting applications.

The Lee 2-cavity bullet molds represent an exceptional choice for metallic reloaders seeking a high-quality mold with reliable performance at a competitive price point.

Constructed from corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy blocks, these molds offer superior durability and longevity under rigorous casting conditions.

Aluminum molds exhibit faster thermal cycling compared to traditional iron molds, allowing quicker heating and cooling phases during bullet casting, which improves overall efficiency in the reloading process.

Additionally, aluminum blocks weigh approximately one-third less than iron or steel molds, reducing operator fatigue during extended casting sessions and enhancing handling ergonomics.

The two mold halves are securely clamped together using wooden-handled tongs to ensure zero movement during the molten metal pour, guaranteeing consistent bullet dimensions and minimizing casting defects.

Bullet weights may vary slightly depending on the specific lead alloy composition used, including variations in antimony or tin content for semi-metallic bullet casting.

Included with the mold are high-quality wooden grips on the tongs, providing comfortable and safe handling during the casting process.

The mold features an integrated sprue cutter blade that efficiently trims excess lead from the bullet base, facilitating clean separation of finished projectiles from the sprue.

For optimal mold performance and longevity, it is strongly recommended to thoroughly degrease the mold prior to initial use. Additionally, seasoning the mold by applying a light coating of mold release agent or “smoking” the interior surfaces enhances bullet release and reduces lead adhesion.

Never apply grease or oil inside the mold cavities, as this can cause casting defects and unsafe conditions during molten lead pouring.

Lightly lubricate the sprue cutter screw to maintain smooth operation and prevent corrosion, ensuring consistent sprue trimming with every cast bullet.
